Posted: Fri, 06 Dec 2019 16:30
Are you a leader, an organiser, are you chatty and get on well with people? Could you inspire, motivate, engage and support others to become more active? Are you 16-24 and currently not in education, employment or training? If you have answered yes or even maybe to any of these questions, a fantastic apprenticeship programme is now open in Leicester and Leicestershire!
Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport in partnership with Coach Core and Lifetime Training have launched an Apprenticeship Programme for 16-24 years olds currently not in education, employment or training.
The fantastic and diverse range of employers involved in the programme, are committed to providing a supportive environment for their apprentices to flourish in. The programme is made up of a range of sports and activities, including those not previously seen on existing Coach Core programmes. These include: Boxing, Cricket, Rugby Union, Gymnastics, Parkour, Cheerleading and Coach Core's first ever Hockey and Triathlon employers.
Our Coach Core Employers are:
- Aylestone Park FC
- Leicester City Council - Sports Services & Live Well Leicester
- Leicester City FC - In The Community
- Leicester City School Sport & Physical Activity Network (SSPAN)
- Leicester Hockey Club
- Leicester Riders Basketball Club
- Leicester Tigers Rugby Club
- Leicestershire County Cricket Club
- Race Rapid
- Rocket Youth Sports
- TayPlay SPORT LTD
- Team Troupers Dance Academy - New Parks
- Waterfront Sports & Education Academy
The Apprenticeship will enable each successful candidate to start an unrivalled 15-month programme of learning where they will gain meaningful qualifications and have full support and mentoring based on their individual needs. Successful applicants will be offered full time employment with a recognised sporting or youth-based employer, earning a wage whilst also working towards the NVQ Level 2 Community Activator Coach qualification as well as a whole host of learning opportunities. In addition, whilst employed directly by one organisation, there will also be access to a range of events, training opportunities and other experiences through the other supportive employers.
As well as support to develop coaching skills and confidence, each employer will offer training, development and vocational opportunities for each of their apprentices, to engage in wider areas of the sector including insight/ data collection, social media, project management and working with targeted populations.
We particularly welcome applicants from female, black, minority, ethnic (BME) communities, disabled people and lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities, as they are currently underrepresented within our workforce.
